Moving beyond the artificial polarization of “pro-Israel” and “pro-Palestinian” agendas, a powerful “pro-justice, pro-peace” movement is unifying individuals and organizations across religious, ethnic, and geographic boundaries. This two-day conference will bring together Christians of Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox traditions, along with Jews, Muslims, people of other faiths, and secular persons. Workshops and panel discussions Friday afternoon and Saturday will be led by many individuals with first-hand knowledge of the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict. Registration fee includes a Middle Eastern dinner on Friday evening as well as Saturday lunch.
Keynote speakers will include Rev. Naim Ateek from Sabeel, Jerusalem; Quaker Peace Activist Jean Zaru from Ramallah; Jeff Halper of Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions; Afif Safieh, Palestinian ambassador to the United States; Don Wagner, a Presbyterian Minister/Advocate, and Liat Weingart of Jewish Voice for Peace on morally responsible investment; Bill Fletcher of TransAfrica on the South Africa/apartheid divestment experience; Prof. Susan Akram of Boston University on international human rights and humanitarian law; Sara Roy of Harvard University. Together we will explore and affirm our shared commitment to the active, non-violent pursuit of a rights-based, just peace in Palestine and Israel.

This conference is being held in coordination with Sabeel Center Jerusalem and Friends of Sabeel--North America, with co-sponsorship from a broad spectrum of peace, human rights, and faith-based groups.
